Welcome to the Intellectual Property & the Internet Wiki
Edit
Intellectual property law (IP law) is currently a major topic of discussion in the entertainment, technology, and software worlds because of legislation that has been proposed in the United States Congress. This legislation was actually introduced as a pair of bills, one before the House of Representatives called the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), and one before the U.S. Senate called the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Both deal with copyrighted materials on the Internet and specifically how to stop copyright infringement there. They also deal with protections and liability for online service providers that host such content.
The IP & the Internet Wiki was set-up as a resource for information about relevant IP law, including SOPA and PIPA, and discussion about these laws. It offers information on the goals of this legislation and provides facts and news around its development. It also aims to house viewpoints on all sides of the issues, general IP law news, and information about the legislative process in the United States. Resources are also available for contacting members of Congress about the issues at hand.
